A Generalized Processor Sharing Approach to Time Scheduling in Hybrid CDMA/TDMA

چکیده
Future wireless Am networks are expected to support a variety of services with different bit-rates and Quality-of-Service (QoS) requirements. A major challenge for these networks is the de= sign of the multiple access scheme. In our previous works, we proposed hybrid CDMA/TDMA technique as an appropriate multiple access control (MAC) scheme for wireless Am networks. We also investigated the problem of power control in such hybrid systems. In this paper, we continue our study and address the time scheduling issue of hybrid CDMAITDMA. Using GPS technique, typically employed in TDMA systems, we develop a time scheduling scheme suitable for the class of hybrid CDMA/TDMA systems. We also study the implementation of this scheme in a specific hybrid system we proposed earlier and address its integration with our power control technique.

Channel-Adaptive GPS Scheduling for Heterogeneous Multimedia in CDMA Networks
Wireless packet-scheduling is a crucial component for providing quality of service (QoS) in CDMA networks. In this paper, we propose channel-adaptive rate-scheduling based on Generalized Processor Sharing (CAGPS) to guarantee minimum service rate and to provide proportional fairness among heterogeneous multimedia traffic for QoS differentiation. The CA-GPS scheduler assigns different GPS weight...
متن کاملScheduling of a flexible flow shop with multiprocessor task by a hybrid approach based on genetic and imperialist competitive algorithms
This paper presents a new mathematical model for a hybrid flow shop scheduling problem with multiprocessor tasks in which sequence dependent set up times and preemption are considered. The objective is to minimize the weighted sum of makespan and maximum tardiness. Three meta-heuristic methods based on genetic algorithm (GA), imperialist competitive algorithm (ICA) and a hybrid approach of GA a...

A medium access control (MAC) protocol is developed for wireless multimedia networks based on frequency division duplex (FDD) wideband code division multiple access (CDMA). In this protocol, the received power levels of simultaneously transmitting users are controlled by a minimum-power allocation algorithm such that the heterogeneous bit error rates (BERs) of multimedia traffic are guaranteed....
متن کاملA hybrid MAC protocol for multimedia traffic in wireless networks
This paper proposes a new MAC protocol, called request-TDMA/CDMA protocol, for supporting multimedia traffic in wireless networks. The protocol has CDMA laid over TDMA like frame structure which has two kinds of slots, viz., data slots and control slots. The control slot holds the information of the next frame’s data slot allocation. Whenever a mobile terminal needs to transmit a message, it se...
متن کاملEnergy-efficient power/rate control and scheduling in hybrid TDMA/CDMA wireless sensor networks
We consider a hybrid TDMA/CDMA wireless sensor network (WSN) and quantitatively investigate the energy efficiency obtained by combining adaptive power/rate control with time-domain scheduling. The energy efficiency improvement is carried out with respect to interfering-cluster scheduling, intra-cluster node scheduling, and transmission powers and times (durations) control (PTC) for individual n...
